Like all insane things in advertising, it began with a 30-second radio brief.
Then things just really got out of hand. I was thinking it would be really funny if the characters in the Welcome to Duke’s Country spot drove their goofy little Geo Tracker from Austin to DC (which approximates the Duke’s market). The pitch was that they needed a song to get them across Duke's Country. That drive is 23 hours. So, I spent the next 9 months writing a 23-hour country song.
So, what's in this monstrosity? Just about 1000 verses, tons of recipes, shoutouts to cities and towns, and all kinds of southern things, and crazy fiddle and kazoo-filled jam sessions. About mayonnaise. If you really, really want to see the lyric sheet, it's over 500 pages long.
In case you're wondering, the answer is no. I did not use AI to write this song. It’s the real deal. Genuine stupidity.
Feel free to spend the next day of your life in pure mayonnaise bliss.
Unfortunately, due to Spotify's limitations, we had to break up the song into three albums.
